TV show of the day: Friday Night Lights

I have got to say, this series has worked its way up to one of my all time favorites. Now that's saying a lot considering I am not a fan of sports series or American football in any capacity but this series is that awesome. Now its set in a small town in Texas which revolves around its football team and more importantly its coach and his family. What i love about this series is the dynamic of this family. Its rare these days to see a strong family and especially a rock solid relationship between husband and wife despite all their mutual flaws going through the ups and downs that we all face in our daily lives. And the commitment of this man to the well-being of these boys on his team is just amazing.
Add to that the realism of the documentary style film making that is raw and realistic and the important social issues that are addressed and you have an absolute winner.
Not to be missed . Although i do warn you , you may fall in love with Tim Riggins. You'll see what i mean. You've been warned. :) Check out the trailer:

Natural Skincare in your own pantry.

I have been on a journey to try and take out chemical and pursue a more natural skin care regime. One of the things i have discovered, tested and my skin absolutely loves is turmeric face masks. Turmeric is an amazing herb that you will probably recognize as the yellow pigment in curry powders. It has amazing anti inflammatory properties that help brighten skin, reduce hyper pigmentation on dark skin  and brighten the skin. In fact Indians have been using it in their skin care regimens for centuries. Brides do turmeric masks before their weddings to add a glow to their skin. Taken internally in food, turmeric is also pretty phenomenal. I  has anti inflammatory properties and even has been found to help destroy cancer cells and acts as a pain reliever that parallels ibuprofen for treating osteoarthritis.
Anyway, back to my face mask ,
Mask Number 1:
I generally will either do a teaspoon to turmeric with half a teaspoon of nutmeg and then add enough milk to make a paste. I put it on my face, wait until it is almost dry and then rinse off with warm water.
Mask Number 2:
A teaspoon of turmeric and a teaspoon of gram flour ( also called besan/chickpea flour from Asian food/health food stores) . I then add milk to make a paste apply , leave till almost dry and wash off with warm water.

My skin loves it.  Both of these masks are exfoliating and leave your skin super soft.

I usually follow up with a toner of equal parts apple cider vinegar and water and a moisturizer.I have notices a significant difference in my skin... ill have to post some before and after photos soon...
chat soon...

Music:

So back to blogging ...2015 and this year , I am going to get back into the swing of it all. So I thought i would begin with recent musical artists that have really caught my eye lately.
Jasmine Thompson is the first artist I have stumbled across and I absolutely love her music. It has an airy ethereal quality to it that is haunting and well beyond her years. Check it out...you won't be sorry. Her rendition of "Titanium " is particularly refreshing.
